Traditional Polyurethane

Polyurethane foam glassed with polyester resin is still the most popular form of surfboard construction. This method is most common in shortboards, where weight is not an issue. Polyurethane foam is also great for traditional style longboards. The weight of the foam and a heavier glass job help with the momentum and glide. The familiar and comfortable feel of polyurethane boards keeps many surfers loyal to this longstanding method of surfboard construction.

If you are looking for a handmade, custom board with a traditional feel and excellent performance characteristics, the classic poly surfboard is a viable choice.

E-Type EPS

The E-type is the lightest, most responsive handmade board we offer. Although the core and resin are different than a polyurethane board, the E-type is available with all custom options. The differences between EPS and traditional polyurethane surfboards are most obvious in performance style longboards where weight and flex patterns are crucial to the surfer. The float and paddle ability of EPS foam is also significantly better than a polyurethane board of the same size.

We use White Hot EPS foam, with two layers of fiberglass on the top and bottom of each board. This keeps the board lightweight and provides uniform responsiveness and a high strength to weight ratio. E-type technology is recommended for the surfer looking to gain optimal performance characteristics out of his or her surfboard. Through extensive testing and successful competitive results, E-type construction has become the number one choice of the Stewart team riders and is currently the majority of our production.

Boardworks

We also offer some of our most popular models in Thermal Epoxy Compression (TEC) construction by Boardworks. TEC is a technique by which both heat and pressure, coupled with the finest epoxy resins, are sandwiched into a lightweight, durable surfboard. Each Boardworks board consists of a dual density core with stringers, bonded to a divynicell outer shell finished with fiberglass and epoxy resins. This produces a board with an amazing strength to weight ratio, and flex characteristics that surfers of all abilities will appreciate.
