Bill Stewart’s “Nightstalker” surfboard commands the highest bid at this year’s “Art Of Shaping Orange County edition” hosted by Billabong. The winning bid of $5250.00 goes directly into the 2010 SIMA Humanitarian Fund. The twenty two shapers chosen to build boards for the event were orange county’s finest and represented a full historical range of board builders. It was very nice to see the dedication and craftsmanship put into all of the surfboards. From ultra modern shapes to full on traditional longboards, there was something for every bidder’s personal taste.

Bill Stewart is busy at work building a very unique board for Billabong’s “Art of Shaping” event and auction. Never one to rest on his laurels, he has conjured up a very original yet applicable concept. I wish I could tell you more, but I am sworn to secrecy. I will say that it is an impressive undertaking, and will defiantly create surf industry chatter. We will be posting more on this project, when it is ready for presentation at ASR/Sacred Craft in mid August.

The Boardworks team held their sales meeting in Encinitas,Ca. on April 8th. Bill was invited to clinic the new sales staff, as well as the Vets on our approach to business, sales and the models we offer in TEC technology. I missed the event but heard it was classic Bill Stewart, fun, informative and full of new ideas. Everyone had a great time, some laughs and new ammo to help sling Stewart Boardworks models this spring. There was a nice party afterwords at the Boardworks HQ where a slew of fine shapers and sales reps rubbed elbows and talked shop.
