2012 Annual Summer Surf Swap June 23rd & 24th

We’re stoked to announce the dates for the 2012 Annual Summer Surf Swap, Saturday June 23rd, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m and Sunday June 24th, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Surf Swap is a great opportunity to clear out your garage and make some money on all the surf/beach-related gear that’s gathering dust. Bring items to be sold to the shop at 2102 S. El Camino Real in San Clemente on Thursday, June 2st or Friday, June 22nd to be checked in for the sale. We’ll sell your gear and give you 100% of the proceeds in store credit or 70% in the form of a check.

Terry Martin 1937-2012

As you as have probably have heard, Terry Martin passed away recently .

I got to know Terry back in1975, when he hired me as a shaper and an airbrush artist at Hobie Surfboards.

I worked for a few years at Hobie, and in 1977 I went independent and started my own label.

The business grew and in the mid ’90s, Hobie asked if I wanted to do the manufacturing of Hobie Surfboards. I called Terry and hired him as a shaper, along with Phil Edwards. We also began building boards for Mickey Munoz and Herbie Fletcher. Terry worked at Stewart Surfboards for about 14 years.
