Steven McLean is a 20 years old professional surfer currently residing in Jacksonville Beach, Florida for College but New Smyrna beach is where he calls home. “It’s a small town, but always has waves and tons of good surfers” says Steven. He started surfing at age 13 and began competing in the National Surfing Scholastic Association at age 15. At only 17, he won his first NSSA National title for Open Longboard in California. The following year in 2012, he won the Explorer and Open Longboard in the NSSA National Championships that took place in Huntington Beach, Ca. “Surfing is my life and what I base everything around. Im in the water everyday even if its knee high and choppy. I really enjoy riding all types of boards whether its twin fin fishes to high performance longboards.” he remarks. He surfs on the World Long Board Tour and really hopes the longboard tour will take back off so he can have more chances to compete around the world. I want to inspire people with surfing and surf the most perfect waves possible.
